Embed Code
Hello,
Is there any way to embed a stock chart from Yahoo or Google finance? I have tried in the whiteboard and homepage sections but even selecting and entering code in the "HTML" section doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know if embedding things that you can traditionally embed in blogs such as the (Yahoo Finance widget) is an option in Member Hub?
Thanks

Hi Matt,
Here is the embed code from Yahoo:
<!-- Start of Yahoo! Finance code -->
<iframe allowtransparency="true" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" hspace="0"
vspace="0" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" src="
http://api.finance.yahoo.com/instrument/1.0/MDCA/badge;chart=1y;quote/HTML/f.white?AppID=vEFVNwyM9gZAL9IE7fssiETO&sig=C_0TKr7zgLq4VvWlbD8aQtcl6wM-&t=1265901677679"
width="250px" height="985px"><a href="http://finance.yahoo.com">Yahoo!
Finance</a><br/><a href="http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=MDCA/">Quote for
MDCA/</a></iframe>
<!-- End of Yahoo! Finance code -->
Also if I wanted to embed something else, say a youTube clip which doesn't
use iFrames it doesn't work either.
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="
http://www.youtube.com/v/zb2ntCDZz0w&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param
name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess"
value="always"></param><embed src="
http://www.youtube.com/v/zb2ntCDZz0w&hl=en_US&fs=1&"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always"
allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Hum.. I'm not getting the YouTube player to work anywhere. I'm going into the editor selecting the HTML widget, pasting the code than saving.

Okay Daniel, we'll get back to you as soon as possible. I can tell you that we have not done extensive testing in Google Chrome at this point. The use of the browser is growing so fast so we need take a closer look at the application in Chrome.
You're on a PC right? In the meantime, you can embed YouTube videos in Discussions and Home Pages using a Firefox, Internet Explorer or Safari.
Thanks.

I have tried to embed with other browsers with no success. I am having another member try from his computer, and I will try again from my personal computer when I get home tonight. But I was unable to embed the youtube clip.

I'm using Chrome: 5.0.307.7 beta
Regarding YouTube videos: I am able to use Mac Chrome with no problem. Now, I did use the Media button in the Rich Text Editor. It produces output that is somewhat different from the code you have posted here. The generated content does not include the 'embed' tag.
Regarding the Whiteboard: This is a bug. It will be fixed in our next deployment.
Regarding iFrames: Our approach to date has been to be very restrictive (protective) of what we allow to run on the memberhub.com domain. There are nuances in the realm of security here, so we've taken the cautious road, waiting for the demand to surpass the restraint :) I'll take a closer look at having iFrame support, but I'm not sure when that will be provided. I apologize for the inconvenience.

@Adam Williams what I'm really trying to do is embed a stock chart from somewhere. Yahoo uses iFrames, wiki-invest has an embeddable flash object and google finance has a unique link.
I don't really care which one I use but it appears that none of the above options will work, as only using a link via the Media button in the Rich Text Editor seems to pull in flash content, and nothing else is supported? (Except Google Finance which is just a link, so we could have a bunch of links out but not as feature rich as seeing all the stock charts in one place, which is what I really want.)

Hey Daniel,
We have some thoughts on how we can address this sort of thing moving forward. We usually have 3-4 week iterations so we could start to get idea on how important it might be to get this into the next release. Can you help us get an idea on how you hope to use MemberHub. Are you with an organization? Thanks!
