Can attachments on discussions be added to Files?

Hello,

My group has been trying to use the Discussions feature to centralize email communications history. It works very nicely to simply include the member hub email on an email thread. All of our communications are collected on MemberHub into a discussion thread. However, attachments do not stay attached to the discussion threads. Is it possible to add this feature? Or to have attachments added to our Files collection?

Regards,
Jerry Eipers

    Hi Jerry,

Thanks for you inquiry about this. As it currently works, if you send an email to a hub's Discussion Board email address everything in that email will be forwarded on. So for example if you send an email to the list, and images and attachments in the email will get delivered onto the recipients.

One of the future enhancements on our list is to redesign the way discussions look inside of Memberhub and to also keep attachments in that view as well. That way if someone is browsing previous discussions, they will see attachments inline.

How is everything else going over at Reading in Motion?

Matt, I am assuming that if you need to have a file included in a discussion for now you could offer the url link from the file section? Jay

Hi Jay, it's true that after you've uploaded a file to the Files repository, you can right-click and copy-n-paste the URL into a Discussion. We'll probably consider the ability to view attachments in MemberHub Discussion (when logged in) in the near future.
