Using Join Pages and Hub Keys
A hub provides multiple ways for you to get members to join and every hub has a customizable Join Page to assist with this. You can think of a Join Page as a public facing overview page of you group. Every hub Join Page has a unique web address (URL) which can be customized by changing the hub key. Hub administrators can distribute the hub key or link to the Join Page from another web page.
Distributing a hub key for hub joins has the following benefits:
- You don't have to know each new member's email address
- You can easily distribute the key or Join Page with instructions to new members
- You can customize and change the key at any time
Setting Up Your Join Page
- Inside a hub, click on the Hub Settings button (under Hub Navigation on the left)
- Click on the Joins tab
- Customize the Join Page web address by changing the hub key
- The Enable a public Join Page for this hub checkbox must be checked
- Check the Require hub administrator approval for joins through the Join Page if you’d like for hub admins to accept/decline each join request by members (Read the note at the bottom of this page about Requests to Join)
Join Page
The hub's unique Join Page URL can be provided to new members and when entered into a browser will direct the member to the Join Page for that hub. This page contains the hub name, logo, description, member count and an optional group photo. From there the member can join the hub directly or request to join the hub based upon the admin preference Require hub administrator approval for joins through the Join Page.
NOTE: if the *Require hub administrator approval for joins through the Join Page is checked, users will be required to click a Request to Join** button on the hub landing page and an email will be sent to the hub administrators. In that email is a link for the administrators to accept or reject the join request.
Using a Hub Key
Members can type in a hub key to join a hub from two different places. On our homepage at http://memberhub.com/home there is a textbox at the bottom of the page where you can enter a hub key and click the Join Hub button.
While logged into MemberHub there is a Join a Hub button on Your Dashboard that links to a page where one can enter a hub key.
